In November 2005, as an undergraduate student, I joined the Laboratory of the Chemistry of Extraction Processes at the Nikolaev Institute of Inorganic Chemistry. While working part-time as a technician, I acquired knowledge of the synthesis procedures for complex compounds of palladium and platinum, as well as protocols for the recovery and purification of platinum metals.

One of the projects was dedicated to the investigation of the possibility of preparing palladium(II) acetate due to the decomposition of the trans-[Pd(NH3)2(NO2)2] suspension in glacial acetic acid . During this work, a new compound was obtained, and its crystal structure was subsequently published in the Journal of Structural Chemistry.
